Women Write to Us From Everywhere

Women of the Whole World, No. 9, September, 1954, p. 18

The Congress of Gerwani (women's organization of Indonesia, affiliated to the W.I.D.F.) was a real success. In addition to the fact that all contributions to the discussion were made on the basis of the decisions of the World Congress of Women, the presence of Mrs. Monica Felton, representing the W.I.D.F., also contributed to an increase in the co-operation with the other women's organizations and to the improvement of Gerwani itself. The delegates from the Dutch women's organization, from the Union of Australian Women and from the Soviet Union visited different parts of the country.

This is really the first time in the history of the women's movement in Indonesia that foreign delegates have visited our country.

The great enthusiasm aroused by the presence of foreign delegates not only found its expression in many mass meetings but also in the storm of questions addressed to our foreign friends, particularly in the small towns and villages where reception committees were formed by the different organizations and individuals.
